2024 marks a monumental moment for new South West 660 Partner venue, Tregenna Castle Resort in St. Ives, Cornwall. They are celebrating 250 years of history, heritage, and hospitality. For two and a half centuries, their 72-acre resort in St Ives has welcomed guests from around the world, offering accommodations from cosy hotel rooms to self-catering properties, alongside amenities like two restaurants, a 9-hole golf course, indoor and outdoor pools, and tennis courts.
As they commemorate this milestone, we’re sharing their rich history whilst they look forward to an exciting future.
A Legacy of Sustainability
Sustainability is central to the vision at Tregenna Castle. In 2023, they invested over £1.5Million in renewable energy. Their newly installed 250kW solar array now supplies 50% of their energy needs. They’ve also introduced a combined heat and power (CHP) turbine to generate both heat and electricity on-site, ensuring energy efficiency year-round. These initiatives are part of their ongoing efforts to reduce their carbon footprint, earning them the Gold Green Tourism Award.
Tregenna’s Historic Journey
Built in 1774 as a private residence for Samuel Stephens, Tregenna Castle evolved into a resort in the late 19th century under the Great Western Railway. Over the years, it has hosted distinguished guests including Prince Philip, Dame Judi Dench, the late Dame Maggie Smith and Sir David Attenborough. World leaders including President Joe Biden enjoyed their hospitality with a stay during the 2021 G7 Summit.
